The staff at your library welcomes you to our facility. We are dedicated to helping you expand your horizons by providing over 48,000 resources for adults, young adults and children, magazines, journals, 21 internet ready computers, music CDs, educational videos, Discovery Packs and so much more. Join our Happy Bookers Book Club, read selections from Oprah's Book Club, the Commandant's Reading List or the New York Times Best Seller list. More casual readers can participate in our paperback and DVD swaps. Check out what we have to offer, and don't hesitate to ask us if you have questions! We are open 75 hours a week for your patronage.
Some Details:
- Happy Bookers Book Club: 3rd Tuesday of each month, 7-9pm. No fee.
- Knit Happens (knitting, crochet, crafts club): Every Tuesday evening except Book Club Nights, 6-8pm. No fee, just bring a project and your questions, or tips 'n tricks.
- Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging): Mondays, 1-3pm and Thursdays, 6-8pm. The fee is $10 per class and ¥1,000 for flowers. Please bring your own vase and "frog" (stem holder).
- "Moe", the traveling Marine bear! Check him out, take him along with you, and bring back photo souvenirs of your travels.
- Stay Connected Through Reading: on a patron appointment basis. Pleaase call the Library for more information.
- Marine Readers Are Leaders: an incentive reading program for Active Duty.
- Teen Readers Are Leaders: an incentive reading program for ages 13-18.
- Dial-A-Story: call in to hear a bed-time (or anytime) story! Available to all patrons who have access to a DSN telephone.
- Story Time: every Thursday morning, 10-11am.
- Summer Reading Program: one day a week, end of June through the middle of August. Fun-themed reading sessions and incentives, with prizes awarded for the "most-reading" kids!
- Monthly Activities, coordinated to current events, such as:
- Groundhog Day
- Black History Month
- Women's History Month
- Dr. Seuss' Birthday
- Independence Day (Patriot Quiz)
- Hispanic History Month
- Native American History Month
- Asian-Pacific American Month
- Thanksgiving
- Guess the Number of Candies in our jar on the front desk: winners will be announced at the end of the month and recieve a prize!
- Other Stuff You Should Know About Your Library:
- Library computers and the Circulation Desk shut down 15 minutes prior to closing.
- Computers at the Library do not have CAC readers available to the public.
- Printers: the first 10 black & white copies are free; additional copies are 10¢ per page. Color copies are 50¢ per page.
- Coffee and tea are available for 50¢ per cup.
- We do not provide paging services.
- We do not provide fax servcies to the public.
- Children ages 10-18 must present and ID card to the front desk. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult supervisor.
- The FamCam Center: newly converted from the former Multi-Media Room, this service is available free of charge to help base families keep in touch with their deployed servcie members on-line. The facility is furnished coutesy of Marine Corps Family Team Building (MCFTB) and is available to patrons over the age of 18 unless accompained by an adult.
